Meet the Team

Hi there! We’re Athena and Michelle, a mother-daughter power team who have been cooking together for as long as Athena can remember. As the saying goes, home is where the heart is and for our family - the kitchen is the heart of our home.

Being a military family who spent many years in Europe, two things that have always kept our family connected is our love of food and travel. We love trying and cooking new cuisines like Indian, Korean, Greek, and more. Opening The Salted Kettle has been an exciting new adventure that combines our love of food and photography. We are currently stationed near the D.C. area and have loved being back near family.

Athena is our photographer and baker with over 13 years of experience. She has also worked in the book industry for almost 5 years now which has given her a great eye for what content gets noticed and leads to publication. You’ll find her reading books, binge-watching The Office, and painting on her days off.

Michelle is our recipe tester and developer with over 40 years of experience. She has attended cooking classes in New York and around Europe. She enjoys travel, exploring new cuisines, reading books, collecting cookbooks, and buying way too many spices.
